A quilted jacket, my childhood dream.

When we were little, our mother used to sew us quilted clothes, making the quilting herself, sewing line after line of fabric lined with a layer of wadding. It was a painstaking job.

Summer and winter, in their Norman village, the six little girls walked the sunken lanes dressed in clothes and, above all, quilted jackets with a pink paisley pattern, in denim, velvet, Liberty print, and very soon, leopard print.

Today, I still love quilted jackets

We carefully preserved these quilted coats and jackets, passed down from sister to sister. Now our daughters wear them. Mended, we love them all the more. They are our entire childhood. They speak of our mother's talent.

Today, I still have a passion for quilted jackets. I collect them, preferably vintage. New ones are made too far away. Almost all of them come from India.

Lately, I've indulged in a few military jacket liners. More robust, more adventurous, less bourgeois, they've greatly contributed to my considering them as full-fledged jackets and no longer just accessories to be covered up. If you're looking for one, I recommend visiting the Saint-Ouen flea market, rummaging through the surplus bins across from Beatnik on Rue Paul Bert. A piece of advice: get there early, because when our Tokyo friends arrive, half the time they clear out the whole bin. So, a beautiful quilted jacket is something you have to earn! Because a beautiful quilted jacket isn't that common…

DJANGO the new leopard padded jacket

I also had a big soft spot for leopard, so I created Léopoldine, our quilted jacket in our exclusive leopard print.

Sold out in a week, many of you expressed your disappointment. The good news is that we have just re-issued it in a revised form, with many small improvements.

DJANGO leopard, our brand new quilted jacket, was released with our SS24 pre-collection SIXSOEURS l'Exploratrice.

Hoping it will delight you as much as the previous ones.

Creating the Perfect Quilted Jacket.

Summer 2019, the project takes shape.

Create the ideal quilted jacket, made in France, choosing the pattern and fabric that would belong only to me… I imagine it in linen, a material I love so much, with a vintage-inspired quilting, of course, I even have in mind those old quilted army linings…

So I met Emmanuel, whose company has specialized in wadding and embroidery since 1936. They are based near Cambrai in northern France and enjoy a worldwide reputation. We work in perfect harmony. I had several trials and several designs made, and after a few months, I kept two, Mona and Lisa, the first of a whole series of quilted jackets to come, made in France and manufactured in Paris.

To meet them and discover their work in pictures, follow me in the video below.
