Let's talk about its unique features. This jacket is set to be your new bestseller, isn't it?
After the success of your long coats, why the short jacket? Is it a big comeback?
I simply wanted something else, to explore a different volume and offer a silhouette that works just as well with a dress as with trousers. So yes, you might think I was inspired by the famous bomber jacket that we all wore as teenagers and passed down from sister to sister, and which is now making a strong comeback. But it wasn't so much that mythical item I had in mind, but more generally a short women's jacket.
A short 80s jacket, an exquisite period in terms of creation that I never tire of, as you know. This is reflected notably in the batwing sleeve, which is one of the peculiarities of this jacket, and which is not at all a bomber jacket for that matter. Likewise, the seams at each end give a very fashionable, very trendy, very designer effect.
In any case, whether it's an 80s women's jacket or a 90s women's jacket, I hope this is above all the fashionable short jacket for Spring 24.
And then the short jacket, whatever anyone says, is often quite flattering for a silhouette...
Women's short jacket
And I'm telling you it has a high-fashion feel!
I'll take that as a compliment. You're right, this jacket is very elaborate. I can even say it's the result of long hours of discussions and "brainstorming" with Christine, my patternmaker (for those who don't know her yet, my right arm and left brain). The seams highlighting its cut and the hidden pockets bear witness to this.
You know, when I first designed it, I was convinced that this silhouette already existed. I looked at iconic designer jackets from the 80s – Saint-Laurent, Montana, Mugler, Armani, etc. I found similar shapes at Dior and especially Issey Miyake, but from the 90s. Strange. In fact, this women's jacket, short, rounded at the back and flat at the front, is truly a reinterpretation of 80s and 90s couture fashion... And if you say it's high-fashion, that makes me really happy.
Actually, this development really took us a lot of time. I've rarely made so many prototypes, with so many alterations.
What are the benefits of this garment, apart from its functional aspect? It's no secret that you cycle through Paris in all weather, like many of your customers...
To cycle all year round, whatever the weather, I must admit that I like to be enveloped in a long coat (but not too long, watch out for the spokes...). This jacket is the opposite. No more thick layers, we're tackling the openings, closing the hatches, insulating. The idea is a motorcycle jacket (still very 80s) with a biker collar tightened at the top, tightened at the wrists, tightened at the waist. In front, we have a deliberately large flap that seals the opening and insulates from the wind, just like with a perfecto, no drafts in sight.
Well, motorcycling was before. Today it's cycling. SIXSŒURS is launching the first fashionable and couture cycling jacket. I said it!
But beware, this is not a technical garment; it can be worn just as well during the day as in the evening, in a casual or more chic style.
You've made this little women's jacket in several versions, right?
Indeed, it makes for a small women's jacket in braided navy and off-white wool. Not to mention last summer a pretty faded denim purchased in Italy, which gives it a slightly more casual and sporty look, we could say. A bit more cycling-friendly.
